Atlas Signals the Start of the Journey to Delivery
Rocket Investment’s hotly anticipated residential scheme, Crown House has been named as The Atlas Building in reflection of its central and iconic position on the Old Street roundabout junction. With demolition work already on site to remove the existing 1980s office building, Atlas will stand proudly on the skyline at 152 metres tall, upon completion in 2019.
Rocket Investments’ director, Andrew Hawkins said: “This building has been designed to create a landmark and will feature twelve architectural ‘blades’ of varying height to form a slender, sculpted top to the tower whilst complementing its neighbours by breaking down the roofscape with a series of terraces and setbacks.”
Atlas is being developed to fulfil the area’s requirements for both private and affordable housing by replacing the existing commercial building with new, high quality accommodation. It will include 302 apartments with dual-aspect and private balconies, in addition high specification resident amenities such as a gym, spa, swimming pool, café and two dedicated children’s play areas.
Tom added: “What is really unique about this scheme is that over 35% of the development’s footprint has been earmarked as public space for both residents and the wider community. This will entail a large piazza area between the two buildings, forming a new pedestrian link featuring a diverse retail and leisure offering.”
